Anyone can stuff a Burger. They even make a kitchen gizmo that will let you do it at home. But just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should. There is an art and a science to making stuffed Burgers, especially when you are going to call them Juicy Lucy’s.
Let me put it this way, I know how to make them and I just don’t. I leave it to the experts and in New York City, the experts are Whitman’s. Not only do they know how to do it right, they do it with pimento cheese, something most New Yorker’s have never had. That’s officially taking 2 regional foods not common in our fine city, bringing them together and creating something even bigger than the parts.
NY Burger Week events that bring really unique experiences are usually the most popular and talked about … so that’s why I do them! Thankfully Larry Kramer and the staff at Whitman’s Hudson Yards were game to go really deep on this one!

Whitman’s NYC is known for mastering the art of the Juicy Lucy – a delicious and tasty Burger stuffed with cheese. The signature Lucy at Whitman’s comes stuffed with house made pimento cheese. Well on this special night, you and a friend are going to split not only one Juicy Lucy, but 3 of them!
One of the Lucy’s will be stuffed with a surprise. If you can correctly guess what’s inside, you will be entered into a drawing to win a $30 gift card for Whitman’s. But that’s not all! You’re also going to get 1 paired craft beer & 1 paired whiskey to taste with your Lucy’s.
Thanks to Larry, Christos and everyone at Whitman’s. Asking a restaurant and Chef to cook things not normally on their menu and serve a whole bunch of people all at the same time is no easy feat. All of you crushed it. The food was fantastic. Most people may not realize it but the kitchen staff at Whitman’s goes the extra mile to make as much of their menu as they can in house, including the pimento cheese and blue cheese dressing. Those blue cheese fries are some of the best fries I have ever had! Thanks to Amanda and Steph for helping to promote the event and also share some easy to learn Instagram tips with the crowd. That was both fun and insightful! Thank you to everyone who attended the event. You are the bold, adventurous and fun people that make this city the only one that can handle a week full of crazy Burgers!!
As for the mystery lucy, no one from either seating was able to guess!! It was flambéed in Four Roses Bourbon and stuffed with a mix of provolone cheese and green chile relish with green chiles, poblanos, red & yellow onions. And let me tell you, it was PHENOMENAL.
