THE STORY
2009 brought New York City and baseball fans a brand new Yankee Stadium. The original was built in 1923 and is still standing across the street. The new stadium cost upwards of $1.5 billion which makes it 2nd only to London’s Wembley Stadium as the most expensive stadium in the world. I am not sure what baseball / Yankee’s fans were hoping for out of the new stadium but as the person who goes to the game to experience the food and fun, I was most excited about the new food!
We got a couple free tickets compliments or our insurance agent and good buddy Eric and decided to make it a birthday trip for fellow Burger Conquester Jackie. So she, Tim, Cara, Dan, Camille and I took the train out to The Bronx to let the eating begin. Walking through the field level concourse I spotted a sign that merely said “SLIDERS” and knew exactly what we had to do.
THE BURGER
After arguing with the air-headed attendant on what “2 orders of 2 sliders” meant and how much they cost (see menu board below), we got our Sliders. Upon opening the bun at the condiment table we all saw what looked like a miniature version of the burgers you get served in your grade school cafeteria. Hopes were not high. One cold, thin, dry bite later it was confirmed…THESE SUCK. All the hype and the money behind this monumental stadium and all this talk about all the great new food at Yankee Stadium and this was just absolutely horrible!
It was like the bases were loaded and there is a strike out in the 9th, oh wait…that is what the Yankees did! Cue up the www.sadtrombone.com Thus gaining not only the worst Burger Conquest review in history but also a pretty bad joke.

It’s the second time in a row we’ve been to Yankee Stadium and our food was disappointing. The cheesesteak was cold — again — and even though the server insisted there were onions on it, they were apparently magic invisible, tasteless onions.
The slider was gross. I’d rather eat a baseball mitt. (
Go to the Cheesesteak stand on the 200 level/1st base line. They make them hot off the grill right in front of you and know what they're doing. The huge stand downstairs is hit and miss.
