First there was a man. Then there was a burger. Then there was a tent. Now people are happy when visit the combo of all 3. Only a few months ago, burger-junkie Dan Petersen had a dream to open a burger restaurant. With the massive financial barriers involved in that idea, Dan took his idea and found a cost effective way to bring gourmet burgers to the people … a tent and a grill. Welcome to That Burger Tent.

On Saturday’s and Sunday’s you will find Dan in his tent at the corner North 6th Street between Bedford and Berry in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Just look for the tent out side of Artists & Fleas flea market. But I already told you that story, so let’s jump ahead to now. Turns out Dan also loves beer, I mean how can you blame him? Beer is awesome. Insert light bulb going off over head.

Some friends and I recently opened a combination of two bars in the East Village; 1. the Mardi-Gras frat party gone wrong more commonly known as Billy Hurricane’s and 2. the basement bourbon, beer and rock speakeasy, Idle Hands Bar. Its a great combo of Bourbon Street and Bourbon Bar or speakeasy / speakloudly, if you will. We’re having a lot of fun and serving a of crazy beers, bourbons, mixed cocktails and laughter. We also have a kitchen and thought it would be a nifty idea to have Dan from bring his proprietary blend of Pat LaFrieda beef and serve his DELICIOUS “Jersey Burger” at the bar(s). See, we can do something Dan can’t, serve beer with the burger. For $7, that is exactly what we did.

As if that wasn’t enough, we also invited in our buddy, The King AdPoch to host the very first night of Active Minds Team Trivia.

4 rounds, 3 questions per round. 1 minute to tun in your answers (countdown provided.) Bet 5,3,1 each once per round – you do not lose points if you are wrong. There will be a Final Bonus question that can change everything, There are also periodic bonus points on some questions.

DONT’S: No Cell Phones, Laptops, PDA’s, cheating, shouting out the answers, drinking water

DO’s: Enjoy a huge selection of Craft Beers, High End Bourbons, and PBR & Schlitz cans, listen to some good music, hang with friends, and most of all HAVE FUN!

Topics range from, TV/Movies, Sports, Current Events, Geography, Math, Random/Bizzaro, Music, Food/Beverage, and the HEAVY METAL* question of the week.

* – you don’t have to be a fan of Heavy Metal to know the answers, but it helps!

It was a night full of burgers, beers and brains.

Dan’s burger is delicious, trust me on that. You can read my full review here. Due to the onions, brisket and short ribs, there’s is the tiniest hint of sweetness in the flavor of the sandwich that is unmistakable. The cheese he is using creates a creamy blanket that cradles the toppings and patty. In fact, I would say the only possible way to make this burger any better would be to serve it with beer!! Lucky for you, that is what we are doing!

8 out of 10 ounces

297 burgers

We’ll have Dan from That Burger Tent at the bar again Tuesday, November 2nd at 5 pm until he runs out
of burgers.. Don’t miss out as there is an EXTREMELY LIMITED amount. Burger + Beer only $7!!!!!

For you trivia buffs, mark down Tuesday, November 30th for the return of Active Minds Trivia!
