FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BarSpyder.com’s GM Attempts to Drink at 99 Bars in 24 hours to Break the Guinness World Record
New York, NY – January 5, 2011
On Tuesday January 11th, 2011 in Manhattan’s East Village and Lower East Side, James Zinkand will attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most bars visited by an individual in a 24-hour period. In order for the record to be valid, James must consume at least half of a pint of beer or a 125 ml (4.39 fl oz) of drink at 51 or more venues. No pub or bar may be visited more than once throughout his crawl, and he must travel either via public transportation or on foot.
The record attempt comes in light of one man’s incredible appreciation for bar culture that inspired the launch of BarSpyder.com, a new bar suggestion, and pub crawl web and mobile application that includes a premium membership with unlimited 2-4-1 drink specials at bars and pubs throughout NYC, http://www.barspyder.com. The current record is listed at 50 bars, which means James will have to consume the equivalent of 44 bottles of beer to edge the current record-holder. The event will be filmed, photographed, and adequately documented according to the Guinness Book of World Records’ standards. James will begin at International Bar, located at 7th Street and First Avenue in Manhattan’s East Village, while continuing to popular venues such as the 9th Ward, Hype Bar, and Library Bar.
James will be joined by Burger Aficionado, Rev. Ciancio from the burger blog, Burger Conquest, https://burgerconquest.com. Rev is also the proprietor of the bourbon, beer, and rock speakeasy, Idle Hands Bar, one of James’ many destinations on Tuesday, http://idlehandsbar.com. James is uncertain at which bar he will proclaim victory or end his attempt; however, he has mapped out a route of 99 bars. Up-to-date progress will be available on twitter by following @barspyder.
